WHO: The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance (www.browardalliance.org)
WHAT: The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance is Broward County’s official public/private partnership for economic development.  Its mission is to lead Broward County in building a stronger and more diverse economy by stimulating the creation of new jobs and capital investment while facilitating the growth and retention of businesses in Broward County.   Some of the services offered by the Alliance staff include assistance with business relocation or expansion and site selection; incentive programs and information; market research; and serving as a liaison for workforce development between CareerSource Broward, educational institutions and the business community.
RESULTS: In fiscal year 2013-14, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance announced the relocation and expansion of 21 companies, the creation of 1,412 high value jobs, the retention of 5,320 jobs and more than $267 million in capital investment in Broward County.  This adds to the total economic impact to Broward County, where from 2007 to 2014, the Alliance, working with our partners, helped create or retain 20,288 direct jobs that are estimated to generate through direct, indirect and induced effects total employment of approximately 44,600 jobs in Broward County and 7,987 jobs elsewhere in Florida, $1.6 billion in annual personal income in Broward County and $8.8 billion in annual economic impact in Broward County. During this time, the Alliance helped fill more than 3.7 million square feet of office and industrial property in Broward County.
MISSION: As the primary economic development organization for Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County, we focus on creating, attracting, expanding and retaining high-wage jobs and capital investment in high value targeted industries, developing more vibrant communities, and improving the quality of life for our area’s citizens.
