Total Quality Logistics plans to create 50 jobs at a new office in the Design Center of the Americas complex in Dania Beach, the company announced Monday.

TQL, the third-largest freight broker in the nation, specializes in full truckload transportation.

“Florida is our No. 1 recruiting market, outside of our corporate headquarters in Cincinnati,” Executive VP Kerry Byrne said in a news release. “The talent in the area is outstanding. The people really complement the energetic, hard-working corporate culture that is TQL.”

Many of the founding members of the new office will initially come from previously established TQL satellite offices, the company said.

TQL said its 2,000 employees works with more than 7,000 customers in the U.S. and Canada and more than 50,000 carriers. The company anticipates moving more than 600,000 loads in 2012.

The Business Journal reported in February that the 775,000-square-foot design center, known as DCOTA, had signed Avis Rent A Car to a 15,000-square-foot lease and was in negotiations to lease 70,000 additional square feet to prospective office tenants.
