Greater Fort Lauderdale proves again to be a smart choice for business travelers as it ranks top in the nation with the lowest travel taxes, according to the Global Business Travel Association's (GBTA) annual study of travel-related taxes in the top 50 U.S. business travel destinations.
For the third year in a row, Greater Fort Lauderdale tops the list of taxpayers' most friendly travel destinations, with an average tax of $22.61 charged on a day's worth of $256 in travel costs. According to GBTA's commissioned study, which examines hotel lodging, car rentals and restaurant meal taxes, the average daily tax expended by travelers in 2013 was $29.94.

Meeting planners and business travelers will find Greater Fort Lauderdale's top meetings hotels among the highest ranked in the country. The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood,
was recently distinguished as a top ten favorite among meetings and incentives groups, as announced by Cvent in its second annual ranking of the "Top 100 Meeting Hotels in the U.S." The hotel ranked ninth on the list.
Greater Fort Lauderdale's diverse range of accommodations, from luxe accommodations to Superior Small Lodgings, includes an additional six premier business-friendly hotels, the Lauderdale Convention Collection, which cater to groups and offer incentives like complimentary space at the LEED-Gold certified 600,000 square foot Broward County Convention Center.
