Resources for EntrepreneursThe Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance (the Alliance) is pleased to support and assist entrepreneurs and emerging companies in Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County. In fact, two of our Councils are focused on these areas. The Entrepreneur Council is focused on "growing our own" and entrepreneurship, while the Corporate Council is focused on growing our established and emerging clusters. Local and State Resources (Please find national resources below): Broward County Small Business Development Division promotes the growth of small, minority and women-owned firms by providing innovative programs at a high level of service excellence. www.broward.org/smallbusiness/ The Florida Department of Management Services is Florida's online procurement system designed to create a statewide marketplace for government buyers and vendors to conduct business. www.dms.myflorida.com Florida First Capital Finance Corp. (FFCFC), founded by the State of Florida and licensed since 1984 by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), is chartered for the primary purpose of promoting and assisting the growth and development of small business by assisting with the SBA 504 and 7A loan programs as well as the Florida Recycling Loan Program. www.ffcfc.com Florida Manufacturing Extension Partnership (Florida MEP) is a non-profit service available to every manufacturer in the state to help them compete more effectively in the global marketplace. It offers assistance with improving efficiency, elimination of waste, international certifications, integration into global supply chains and networking Florida businesses with the resources they need to become more profitable. www.floridamep.org Southern Florida Minority Supplier Development Council is a not-for-profit corporation established to foster the development and expansion of minority-owned businesses. The organization is committed to building mutually beneficial relationships between minority businesses and corporate and government buyers. www.sfmsdc.com Metro Broward Economic Development Corporation offers alternative financing through credit enhancement to minorities who cannot obtain conventional loans. The facility also offers a small business incubator for emerging professional services companies. www.metrobroward.org Miami/Ft. Lauderdale Minority Business Enterprise Center provides management, technical assistance, construction services, free seminars and training. The MBEC is an SBA-certified loan intermediary that helps to prequalify and obtain loans and bonding. The MBEC also helps to find government and corporate contracts and helps to prepare bids and various government certifications. www.mbecflorida.org The SBA's Office of Business Development offers qualified businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals assistance in bidding for competitive contracts. www.sba.gov/localresources/district/fl/south Research Parks at Florida Atlantic University Partners are able to interact with the University community and take advantage of its facilities, technology transfer and expertise.
