K-12 Education

Employers can offer their employees who are parents a choice of highly rated public or private schools in Greater Fort Lauderdale. The county's K-12 programs range from international business programs to the arts, sciences and technology-focused curricula. Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County has more than 100 K-12 "A" rated public schools, the highest rating level given by the state.

Florida's decade of educational progress continued this year with a jump to 8th in the nation on the 2010 Quality Counts: Fresh Course, Swift Current report. Issued annually by Education Week, the report tracks each state's policies and performance across key areas of education and assigns each state an overall point total to signify its education standing in the nation. This year's increase follows continuing improvement that saw the Sunshine State ranked 10th last year and 14th in 2008, up from 31st in 2007. The improvement trend is shown graphically below.
