Hollywood
The City of Hollywood, Florida is a mature built-out City in southeast Broward County. Nestled between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Hollywood is characterized by its quaint neighborhoods; a booming central business district with arts and entertainment, shopping and dining in the Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency; and, in the Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, Florida's only oceanfront "broadwalk" where no traffic can come between beachgoers and the Atlantic Ocean's calm and inviting tropical waters.
Founded in 1925, the City's mission is to "provide municipal services for our diverse community in an atmosphere of cooperation, courtesy and respect. We do this by ensuring all who live, work and play in the City of Hollywood enjoy a High Quality of Life." Hollywood has grown to over 28 square miles with six miles of beach and is known for its top-notch schools, award-winning parks, recreation and cultural programs, diversity, and economic and redevelopment projects. In addition, the City has an outstanding team of employees who are guided by the City Manager's Strategic Plan. The Plan is a blueprint for each employee to develop innovative, efficient and cost effective ways to enhance service delivery and their job performance.
Hollywood is in the midst of a vision-driven renaissance guided by its City-Wide Master Plan. With more than 15 linear miles of commercial corridors, business opportunities abound. The City has undertaken ambitious land use and zoning changes to accommodate future growth while preserving its historic character. In response, redevelopment is taking place throughout the City.
Future population projections anticipate more than 85,000 new residents by 2025, a 58% increase over the City's 2005 population of 146,734. The City offers new residents an opportunity to live in the heart of South Florida - in a community that's committed to preserve and enhance its great quality of life.
