Lauderdale Lakes

The City of Lauderdale Lakes was incorporated on June 22, 1961, by a Charter approved by the State Legislature. The City comprises an area of approximately four square miles in the "heart" of Broward County, with its center at the crossroads of State Road 7 and Oakland Park Boulevard.

In March 1998, the residents of Lauderdale Lakes voted for a change from a Mayor/City Council to a Mayor/City Commission/City Manager form of government. The new leadership held a strategic planning and visioning session, in which they identified exciting new goals and objectives that are exemplified in the new motto and vision for Lauderdale Lakes: Motto: "We CARE" Vision: "To be the best City of its size through commitment to safety, quality of life, government and efficient use of resources."

Looking towards the future, the City is pursuing an aggressive program to create jobs, build our tax base, boost property values, stimulate small business development, attract new businesses, revitalize our commercial corridor, upgrade our infrastructure and beautify our parks and neighborhoods.
