Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Emergency Department and Medical Arts Pavilion

Broward Health Imperial Point Medical Center (IPMC) will be breaking ground on its Emergency Department expansion and new Medical Arts Pavilion on March 29th. The community is invited to celebrate this event and the hospital's 35 years in Broward County at the Health Fair and Celebration, "Building Healthier Lives", on the hospital grounds from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The construction-themed health fair and celebration will feature various health screenings, a groundbreaking ceremony, interactive games to build healthier lives and construct better bodies, stations featuring the hospital's services, fitness and tai chi demonstrations, music, food, beverages and more.

"We are so proud of Imperial Point Medical Center and its superior reputation during the 35 years it has been in this community," states Calvin E. Glidewell, chief executive officer of IPMC. "We want to continue to provide the same quality care that our community is accustomed to, and these renovations and new construction will help take us to an even higher level of care and service."

The event is geared to raise awareness in the community about the medical center's numerous services and its new 24,063-square-foot, state-of-the-art emergency room that will feature 20 patient rooms, private treatment areas and separate waiting rooms for visitors and children. There will be separate entrances for walk-in patients and ambulances. The new wing will have additional parking, valet parking and will meet all the latest standards in healthcare design, emergency preparedness and hurricane protection.

Also being built is a four-story, 68,000 square feet Medical Arts Pavilion, developed by Lauth Property Group, LLC. It will be completed in 2009 and will serve to attract additional physicians to the campus, further serving the needs of the community.

PMC officials view the new developments as an exciting step into a more technologically-savvy future and meeting the needs of our community.
