Registration Deadline for African-American Achievers Awards Nominations
Automotive legend and philanthropist Jim Moran established the African-American Achievers awards program in 1992 to recognize local leaders who improve our community and inspire others through their dedication and service. Since then, 137 individuals have been named African-American Achievers, and more than $365,000 has been donated to charitable organizations in appreciation of their contributions. For the 23rd year, JM Family Enterprises and its subsidiaries Southeast Toyota Distributors and JM Lexus carry on this tradition in honor of our founder Mr. Moran.
Mark your calendars for the 2015 awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 15, at the Broward County Convention Center. On that special night, we will honor the newest African-American Achievers award recipients. But first, we need your help to identify outstanding role models who make South Florida a better place.
Now through Friday, December 5, nominations are being accepted in four categories: Arts & Culture, Business & Entrepreneurism, Community Service and Education. I encourage you to nominate someone who has inspired you at AfricanAmericanAchievers.com. You may submit more than one person for consideration. Please also share this website with your peers who may know others deserving of this prestigious recognition. Eligible achievers must live or work in Palm Beach, Broward or Miami-Dade County. The recipients will be selected by an independent panel of judges comprised of past honorees and other community leaders.
JM Family, Southeast Toyota and JM Lexus will celebrate the 2015 honorees by awarding $10,000 in each Achiever’s name to the nonprofit of his/her choice, totaling $40,000. In addition, for those whose nominee is chosen, a total of $500 will be donated to a charity of their choice, and they will also be invited to the evening’s private reception.
All nominees will receive a personalized certificate of achievement and an invitation to the ceremony. To learn more about the program or if you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Tate at 954-420-3275 or [email protected].
