Production and transportation of goods are one of the most important elements contributing to the global economy. The constant growth of markets creates complex environments for supply chain management. This complexity leads to the vulnerability of the supply chain to risks which have environmental and social aspects. Considering the effects of these risks, it is important to create a sustainable production line that ensures economic growth and an effective and efficient operation of supply chains. An integral part of the supply chain is the distribution of goods, that utilizes the transportation network. Transportation is critical not only as a part of the supply chain, but also as a part of everyday life. The freight transportation network throughout the United States undergoes several environmental and manmade threats constantly. Hence, it is essential to develop a resilient transportation network to the threats of the environment. A one-day workshop is being held at FAU with a focus on supply chain sustainability and transportation resilience, and will include a wide range of presentations, that span from framework proposals to transportation and operations management-based research.

This workshop involves a range of port and coastal community stakeholders with the objectives to:

• develop in-depth knowledge and understanding among participants of the issues in transportation resiliency;
• acquire input on developing transportation resiliency tools;
• provide a forum for discussion and feedback on supply chain sustainability and transportation resilience, and;
• connect with stakeholders and envision future goals for supply chain sustainability and transportation resilience
