Coconut Creek

The picturesque City of Coconut Creek is located in Broward County, South Florida, nestled between Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties. Coconut Creek is widely recognized as a well-planned community with a unique environmental consciousness touting an abundance of trees, waterways, attractive landscaped roads, beautiful parks, and butterfly gardens throughout our neighborhoods. This is due to the City's progressive planning approach to creating a unique lifestyle for residents and businesses.

The Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (FAPA) has recognized the City's "MainStreet Design Standards" project with an Award of Excellence in planning. A MainStreet (http://coconutcreek.net/newsite/mainstreet/overview.asp) concept is underway in the heart of Coconut Creek that includes the Silver LEED Certified Promenade at Coconut Creek, a life-style center for retail and commercial use. The vision is a sustainable downtown environment that embodies the distinctiveness of Coconut Creek and will serve as a local and regional destination. The MainStreet project will cover over a million square feet of commercial development, 2,700 residential units, 1,300 hotel rooms, 300,000 square feet of community facilities, large open space and recreation components, and 14 acres of conservation.

Coconut Creek has been highly recognized for its "green" initiatives, receiving numerous awards: Emerald Award for environmental preservation leadership; named as the State's first "Community Wildlife Habitat"; 20th Tree City USA designation by Arbor Day Foundation; Audubon Green Community Award; and winner of South Florida's Mayor's Water Conservation Challenge.
