$250,000 In Broad Prize Scholarships Awarded To 14 Broward County High School Seniors
Fourteen Broward County Public Schools high school seniors have won a collective $250,000 in Broad Prize college scholarships presented by The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation.
“These students are to be commended for working hard in high school and we are proud to award them with Broad Prize scholarships as they pursue college and careers,” said Eli Broad, founder of The Broad Foundation. “They represent the success of Broward County Public Schools because they have demonstrated not only academic achievement, but more importantly academic improvement.”
Broward students received the scholarships because the District was a 2009 finalist for The Broad (pronounced like “road”) Prize, the nation's largest education award honoring large urban districts that have demonstrated the greatest overall performance and improvement in student achievement while reducing achievement gaps among income and ethnic groups.
Seniors selected to receive Broad Prize scholarships include:

Flanagan High School; Addi-Neequie Stone, Coconut Creek High School; Katherine A. Sifontes, Everglades High School; Guelita Pericles and Stephanine Miranda, Fort Lauderdale High School; Juan Lopez, Piper High School; Micheal R. Roxton, South Plantation High School; Julia F.
