City Furniture Expands Treasure Coast Operations, Opening Vero Beach Showroom with Ashley HomeStore / City Furniture Under One Roof

VERO BEACH, Fla. – City Furniture’s opening of a dual-branded Ashley HomeStore Select and City Furniture showroom in the Vero Beach market is the latest step in the top-selling South Florida furniture retailer’s Treasure Coast/Central Florida expansion.

Adjacent to the Indian River Mall, the 30,000-square-foot former Sports Authority store at 6560 20th Street was an unexpected and welcome opportunity, according to City Furniture President Keith Koenig, whose firm is the exclusive licensee for Ashley HomeStores in southeast and southwest Florida.

“The Sports Authority auction last summer gave us a chance to speed up our timetable to create a presence in Vero Beach -- a crucial step in our northern growth strategy,” said Koenig. “We’re excited to bring local families a wide array of furniture choices and price levels, all with exceptional values,” he added.

A long-time supporter of Habitat for Humanity in South Florida, City Furniture celebrated the Vero Beach store’s grand opening recently by presenting a $2,500 donation to the Indian River Habitat for Humanity.

The company operates adjoining City Furniture and Ashley HomeStore showrooms in key markets to increase merchandise choices and provide an added convenience for shoppers. The Vero Beach store is the first to provide each brand with distinct space under one roof. At about half the size of City Furniture’s typical dual-branded location, the building’s Ashley HomeStore Select is a showroom version tailored for smaller markets, but it marks a big milestone. Its opening brings the total store count for Ashley HomeStore, the No. 1 furniture retailer in the U.S., to 700 stores across 36 countries.

“With 20 years in the retail business, from the first store opening in Anchorage, Alaska to our 700th store opening in Vero Beach, I’m thrilled with the momentum the Ashley brand has built and will continue to build upon in the coming years,” said Todd Wanek, president and CEO of Ashley Furniture Industries.

The new Vero Beach dual-branded store brings area consumers a wide range of furniture styles, including coastal, traditional and modern, along with City Furniture’s new Park & Worth and Viceroy collections. Shoppers can also shop both brands’ extensive online collections and enjoy free shipping for orders over $495.

Known for leading the industry in environmentally friendly construction and operating practices, City Furniture incorporated “green” features in renovating the Vero Beach location, Koenig said. All lighting now uses energy efficient LED bulbs, and the newly installed carpet and tile is recyclable.  City Furniture’s delivery fleet is powered by clean-burning compressed natural gas, and packaging from the furniture is transported back to City Furniture’s 900,000-square-foot distribution center in Tamarac for recycling.

About City Furniture Ranked among Furniture Today magazine’s Top 100 U.S. Furniture Stores, City Furniture leads the industry in its trading area by providing shoppers with an outstanding array of styles and choices at great values. The company has 15 City Furniture stores in its network, which stretches from Miami through Vero Beach in southeast Florida, as well as Naples and Fort Myers on the state’s west coast. As the Ashley HomeStore licensee in southeast and southwest Florida, it owns and operates 12 Ashley HomeStore locations. For information visit www.cityfurniture.com
