Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO of United Way of Broward County, Appointed to the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice
Term of membership to last through June 30, 2023
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – United Way of Broward County is pleased to announce that Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO, has been appointed to the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice. Effective immediately and through June of 2023, Cannon will work to support the Commission’s mission of supporting the study of unmet civil legal needs of disadvantaged, low-income, and moderate-income Floridians.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice” said Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO of United Way of Broward County. “I believe everyone should have equal and fair access to civil justice and legal resources no matter their circumstances, color of their skin or financial circumstances and I am committed to making this happen in our community.”
Kathleen Cannon is President/CEO of United Way of Broward County, an organization that works to heighten the successful collaboration of nonprofits, community leaders, volunteers, and private businesses to help those in need in our community. Serving as an executive leader for more than 15 years, Cannon brings vast experience to making a difference in the lives of people in Broward County through exemplary services, sound fiscal practices, robust fundraising abilities, facilitating, collaborating and influencing policy changes to the system of care.
The purpose of the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice is to study the unmet civil legal needs of disadvantaged, low-income, and moderate-income Floridians. The Commission encompasses the viewpoints of multiple constituencies and stakeholders and is not limited to those of any one particular institution. The Commission considers Florida’s legal assistance delivery system as a whole, including but not limited to staffed legal aid programs, resources and support for self-represented litigants, limited scope representation, pro bono services, innovative technology solutions, and other models and potential innovations.
