Tech-focused private equity firm Thoma Bravo to open Miami office

By   –  Reporter, South Florida Business Journal

Thoma Bravo is making a move to Miami.

On Tuesday the private equity firm announced it will open an office in Miami in the second half of 2021, joining the slew of finance and technology companies that have expanded to South Florida in recent years. The Chicago-based company focuses on investments in the software and technology-enabled service sectors.

"The office will not only reinforce our presence in the U.S., but will also serve as the firm’s first foothold on the East Coast, providing a gateway to other national and global markets," said founder and managing partner Orlando Bravo.

Thoma Bravo Partner Chip Virnig will relocate to Miami to lead the office. The company plans to relocate other existing staff and hire new talent in the region.   Bravo appears to be making a move to the area as well:

He recently purchased a $39 million home in Miami Beach previously owned by Grammy-winning singer Phil Collins.  “We are thrilled to expand our business to this vibrant city as it rapidly evolves into a major financial and technology hub,” he said.

Thoma Bravo, which has offices in Chicago and San Francisco, reports it had more than $73 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 2020.
