Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Leads Delegation of Senior Business Leaders to Boston

Biennial Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Leadership Trip Examines Boston’s Thriving Business Climate, Best Practices

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (April 3, 2025) - The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Broward County’s official public-private partnership for economic development, will lead a delegation of more than one hundred Broward County business and community leaders to Boston, from April 7 to April 9, with the goal of learning, collaborating, and exchanging ideas with top Boston leaders on shared areas of focus impacting economic vitality and quality of life.

Held every two years in a different, dynamic U.S. city, Alliance Leadership Trips support the organization’s mission of propelling Broward’s economy forward through innovation, collaboration, and enhanced best practices for stimulating business growth, job creation, and capital investment.  Previous trips have been held in Austin, Texas; Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina, and San Diego, California.

Members of the Alliance unanimously selected Boston as this year’s focus city, highlighting its top-ranked livability, coastal geography, tourism and thriving industries such as technology, life sciences, finance, and sports and entertainment as some of the city’s biggest draws.

Throughout the Alliance’s trip, senior Broward business and community leaders, government officials, and experts across a wide range of industries will engage in meaningful dialogue with more than one hundred of Boston’s top leaders to discuss the following shared areas of focus: Arts &  Culture; Business & Technology; Commercial Real Estate; Education, Talent & Workforce; Healthcare & Life Sciences; Housing Affordability & Homelessness; Resilience; Small Business; Sports, Entertainment & Recreation; and Transportation & Infrastructure.

“Though Boston is one of the oldest cities in the U.S., and Greater Fort Lauderdale one of the youngest communities, our coastal geography, thriving targeted industries, and mutual reputations as great places to live and work, indicate that we are traveling a similar path,” said Bob Swindell, President and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. “We are hugely appreciative of Boston’s incredible leaders and organizations that have graciously agreed to collaborate with us during our visit to their iconic city.  We are eager to convene with Boston’s leaders, learn from their successes, and identify new best practices that can be implemented back home in Greater Fort Lauderdale.”

Co-chaired by Doug Cohen of Kelley Kronenberg and Maria Hernandez of the United Way of Broward County, the Alliance’s 2025 Leadership Trip will feature curated roundtables, panels, tours, and experiences at some of Boston’s most iconic institutions, such as Boston Symphony Hall, TD Garden, Fenway Park, City Hall, the JFK Presidential Library, and the Boston Waterfront.

The trip is sponsored by Presenting Sponsors: the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and JetBlue; Platinum Sponsors: Broward County Cultural Division and FXE - City of Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport; Gold Sponsors: Amazon, FLL - Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, PMI U.S., the South Florida Business Journal and Visit Lauderdale; Silver Sponsors Kelley Kronenberg Attorneys at Law, Port Everglades and FPL; and Bronze Sponsors Allini Water Purification Systems, Baptist Health, Becker, the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development, the City of Coconut Creek, the City of Miramar, the Community Foundation of Broward, Miller Construction Company and United Way of Broward County.
