Business Journal hires Dovich as commercial real estate reporter
The South Florida Business Journal has hired Mark Dovich as its Emerging Markets real estate reporter.
He joins Real Estate Editor Brian Bandell in covering the tri-county region’s robust real estate industry, including its most significant deals and the essential players that make them happen.
Dovich will focus on emerging markets, including breaking news and in-depth trend centerpieces on South Florida’s key leasing activities, developing commercial hot spots, residential neighborhoods and expanding business districts.
A Miami resident, Dovich hails from Naples. During his journalism career, he’s reported on a wide range of topics including business, politics, the economy, the environment and government accountability.
“Mark’s experience covering complex issues makes him a natural fit with Brian, whose expertise in our real estate market is unmatched,” SFBJ President and Publisher Melanie Dickinson said. “Together, they’ll offer readers top-notch coverage of one of our most dynamic and important sectors.”
Dovich worked for several years in Armenia for CivilNet, where he was promoted to assistant editor and led a team of English-language journalists that produced video news broadcasts for Business Week Armenia and Daily Armenia.
Most recently, he worked as a contributing writer for The Naples Press and Gulfshore Business magazine, where he covered southwest Florida news with a focus on the economy, environment and accountability issues.
“Mark’s diverse background, solid multimedia skills and commitment to producing quality journalism will only enhance our real estate coverage,” SFBJ Editor-in-Chief Mel Meléndez said. “We’re happy to welcome him to our award-winning team.”
Dovich, who speaks Russian and Armenian, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Russian, East European and Eurasian studies from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in social justice and investigative reporting from Northwestern University.
"I'm thrilled about joining the Business Journal and covering real estate as part of a news team that's known for its winning coverage of the key sectors that help advance the region's economy," Dovich said.
The South Florida Business Journal produces a weekly print edition for subscribers, and daily web stories with breaking business news across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. It is owned by American City Business Journals, a unit of Advance Publications, which operates 44 business journal outlets, Condé Nast magazines, and other brands including American Inno and Hemmings Motor News.
