Broward County's Reports a 3.7% Unemployment Rate in June 2025
(FORT LAUDERDALE, FL) – Broward County’s job report indicated a 3.7% unemployment rate in June 2025. This rate was 0.3 percentage points greater than the region’s a year ago at 3.4% and 0.2 percentage points lower than the state rate of 3.9%. The labor force was 1,087,810, down 939 (-0.1%) over the year. There were 340,301 unemployed residents in the region.
Nonagricultural employment in the Ft. Lauderdale-Pompano Bch-Sunrise Metro Division was 926,600, an increase of 11,400 jobs (+1.2%) over the year.
“Broward County year-over-year job growth in nonagricultural sectors remains positive in June 2025 with an addition of more than 11,000 Jobs over the past year. The interest in Greater Fort Lauderdale as a location of choice and the local expansions in our targeted industries remain strong,” said Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance President/CEO, Bob Swindell. “We thank our many partners, investors and leaders at Broward County and our municipalities, who have been working with us to grow and diversify the economy.”
Data and Analysis
As of June, the following six major industries grew faster in the metro area than statewide over the year: Other Services (+3.5%), Professional and Business Services (+2.1%), Leisure and Hospitality (+2.0%), Government (+2.0%), Manufacturing (+1.6%), and Financial Activities (+0.4%).
The Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Sunrise MD had the highest annual job growth compared to all the metro areas in the state in the Professional and Business Services (+3,600 jobs) industry and the second highest in the Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (+2,600 jobs), Government (+2,000 jobs), and Other Services (+1,300 jobs) industries.
Nonagricultural employment showed a month-to-month decrease of 10.500 jobs with the following sectors losing jobs month-over-month: Government (-7,100, - 6.4%), Education and Health Services (-1,900 jobs, -1.5%), Leisure and Hospitality (-800 jobs, -0.8%), Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (-600 jobs, -0.3%), Financial Activities (-500 jobs, -0.7%), and Other Services (-200 jobs, -0.5%).

Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.7% in June 2025, unchanged from the May 2025 rate, and up 0.3 percentage point from a year ago. There were 415,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 11,193,000. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.1% in June.
Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 10,062,600 in June 2025, a decrease of 20,000 jobs (-0.2%) over the month. The state gained 142,300 jobs over the year, an increase of 1.4%. Nationally, the number of jobs rose 1.1% over the year.
All ten major industries experienced positive over-the-year job growth in June 2025.
The unemployment rate in Palm Beach County was 3.9% in June 2025. This rate was 0.3 percentage points greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.6%. The labor force was 779,860, up 1,718 (+0.2%) over the year. There were 30,748 unemployed residents in the region. In June 2025, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Bch-Boca Raton-Delray Bch Metro Division was 702,800, an increase of 10,900 (+1.6%) over the year and a decrease of -10,200 jobs (-1.4%) over the previous month.
For Miami-Dade County, the unemployment rate was 2.4% in June 2025. This rate was 0.2 percentage points lower than the region's year ago at 2.6%. In June 2025, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall Metropolitan Division was 1,335,200, an increase of 20,300 jobs (+1.5%) over the year and a decrease of -20,100 jobs (-1.5%) over the previous month. In June 2025, the labor force was 1,439,567, down 1,765 (-0.1%) over the year. There were 35,146 unemployed residents in the region.
