Broward County Adds 10,600 Nonagricultural jobs over the year in July 2025
(FORT LAUDERDALE, FL) – Broward County’s job report indicated a 3.8% unemployment rate in July 2025. This rate was 0.2 percentage points greater than the region’s year ago at 3.6% and 0.3 percentage points lower than the state’s not seasonally adjusted rate of 4.1%. The labor force was 1,094,935, up 3,122 (+0.3%) over the year. There were 41,650 unemployed residents in the region.
Nonagricultural employment in the Ft. Lauderdale-Pompano Bch-Sunrise Metro Division was 924,600, an increase of 10,600 jobs (+1.2%) over the year.
“Broward County continues year-over-year job growth in nonagricultural sectors, adding 10,600 Jobs in July 2025. Interest in Greater Fort Lauderdale as a location of choice and the local expansions in our targeted industries remain strong and continue supporting the overall year-over-year job growth trends,” said Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance President/CEO, Bob Swindell. “We thank our many partners, investors and leaders at Broward County and our municipalities, who have been working with us to grow and diversify the economy.”
Data and Analysis
As of July, the following five of the major industries grew as fast or faster in the metro area than statewide over the year: Other Services (+4.3%); Leisure and Hospitality (+2.8%), Professional and Business Services (+1.6%), Financial Activities (+1.5%), and Government (+1.5%).
The Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach MD had the highest annual job growth compared to all the metro areas in the state in the Professional and Business Services (+2,700) and Other Services (+1,600 jobs) industries.
The Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach-Deerfield Beach MD had fastest annual job growth rate in Other Services (+4.3%) and the second highest annual job growth compared to all the metro areas in the state in the Leisure and Hospitality (+2,700 jobs) and Other Services (+1,600 jobs) industries.
Nonagricultural employment showed a month-to-month decrease of 2,700 jobs with a few sectors gaining jobs month over month: Financial Activities (+400, +0.4%), and Information (+100, +0.5%).

Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.7% in July 2025, unchanged from the June 2025 rate, and up 0.3 percentage point from a year ago. There were 417,000 jobless Floridians out of a labor force of 11,196,000. The U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.2% in July.
Florida’s seasonally adjusted total nonagricultural employment was 10,069,000 in July 2025, an increase of 7,300 jobs (+0.1%) over the month. The state gained 134,100 jobs over the year, an increase of 1.3%. Nationally, the number of jobs rose 1.0% over the year.
Nine major industries experienced positive over-the-year job growth in July 2025, and one major industry remained unchanged from a year ago.
The unemployment rate in Palm Beach County was 4.1% in July 2025. This rate was 0.3 percentage points greater than the region's year ago rate of 3.8%. The labor force was 783,790, up 3,117 (+0.4%) over the year. There were 31,767 unemployed residents in the region. In July 2025, nonagricultural employment in the West Palm Bch-Boca Raton-Delray Bch Metro Division was 700,900, an increase of 10,000 (+1.4%) over the year.
For Miami-Dade County, the unemployment rate was 2.8% in July 2025. This rate was equal to the region's year ago rate of 2.8%. In July 2025, nonagricultural employment in the Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall Metropolitan Division was 1,337,000, an increase of 22,100 jobs (+1.7%) over the year. In July 2025, the labor force was 1,455,563, up 8,265 (0.6%) over the year. There were 40,297 unemployed residents in the region.
