Broward County Public Schools and Florida Panthers Team Up for Inaugural Reading Challenge

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is teaming up with the Florida Panthers to launch the inaugural Florida Panthers Reading Challenge, an exciting initiative that encourages families to read together and strengthen literacy habits.

This year’s challenge kicked off on September 15, with four participating schools — Bennett Elementary School, Endeavour Primary Learning Center, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and Oakridge Elementary School – and runs through October10 .

Throughout the challenge, families will be encouraged to read together for 15 minutes daily and track their progress in reading logs. Completed logs will be returned to each child’s teacher for the chance to win:

  • Certificates and bookmarks for all families who finish the challenge
  • Florida Panthers prizes
  • A special Panthers school assembly in November for the school with the highest participating rate

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Florida Panthers to celebrate and strengthen the joy of reading,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “Reading together as a family not only builds literacy skills but also creates lasting memories.”

“We are proud to partner with Broward County Public Schools on another great initiative,” said Vice President of the Panthers Foundation & Community Relations John Colombo. “Our organization is committed to supporting youth education, and the Reading Challenge is a powerful way to inspire lifelong readers.”
