Aerospace supplier to double its South Florida footprint

A global supplier of aviation and aerospace components will double its space in a Broward County industrial and flex park.

Planestocks LLC signed a long-term lease that will boost its footprint from 15,615 square feet to 30,859 square feet in the Hillsboro Technology Center, at 386 Hillsboro Technology Drive in Deerfield Beach.

The company plans to move into the expanded space in the third quarter of next year. The building’s owner is an affiliate of Coconut Creek-based Butters Construction & Development and San Francisco-based Bristol Group. The tenant was represented by Lawrence Epstein and David Browne of Savills, while the landlords were represented by Brian Ahearn, part of Butters’ in-house brokerage. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Planestocks describes itself as a family-owned and operated company that has supplied aerospace components, assemblies, hardware and materials to the global aviation and defense industries for more than 30 years.
Its expanded footprint is meant primarily for additional warehousing and distribution space, but the company is also planning to recruit additional staff in inventory management, sales and technical support. Planestocks cited its tech-powered inventory management solutions for its growth.

Hillsboro Technology Center offers 900,000 square feet of industrial, office and hotel space across 75 acres, with immediate access to I-95 and the Sawgrass Expressway. It was developed in phases by Bristol Group and Butters, one of South  Florida’s most active commercial real estate firms known for many of its industrial projects.  South Florida is a hub for the aviation and aerospace industry, and hundreds of companies – including major players like Boeing and Lockheed Martin – have a presence in the tri-county region. That comes down in part to South Florida’s strategic geographic position, which provides overnight access to both Europe and Latin America. The region’s diverse and multilingual population is also a draw.

As of last year, the aviation and aerospace sector supported nearly 70,000 jobs in South Florida, according to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. A typical job in the industry had a yearly salary of almost $125,000, well above the region's average.
