Broward Education Foundation, Broward County Public Schools and Florida Power & Light Company Teamed Up for FPL’s Power to Care Event at Apollo Middle School in Hollywood
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2026) Broward Education Foundation, the sole nonprofit benefitting Broward County Public Schools, partnered with Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) during its annual Power to Care volunteer week, as dedicated volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help beautify Apollo Middle School in Hollywood.
“We’re honored to work alongside Broward Education Foundation and Apollo Middle School to create a more vibrant and welcoming campus environment,” said Christine Shaw, External Affairs Manager for FPL. “Power to Care is about more than volunteerism, it’s about investing in the spaces where students learn and grow. When we strengthen our schools, we strengthen our communities.”
Volunteers and students spent time quality outside with light landscaping, planting flowers, raking and mulching to refresh the school’s front entrance and walkways, enhancing the campus environment for both students and teachers.
“Partnerships like the one we share with FPL demonstrate what’s possible when organizations unite around a common purpose,” said James A. Knapp, President & CEO of Broward Education Foundation. “By enhancing school environments and supporting student success initiatives, we’re helping ensure every child in Broward County has the opportunity to thrive academically and beyond.”
