CareerSource Broward Welcomes Matthew Rocco and Nelson Fernandez to Broward Workforce Development Board

CareerSource Broward (CSBD) is pleased to announce the appointments of Matthew Rocco, President of the South Florida Manufacturers Association (SFMA), and Nelson Fernandez, President of Development at ANF Group, to the Broward Workforce Development Board (BWDB). Rocco and Fernandez join an accomplished group of more than 25 leaders from the business, labor, education, and nonprofit sectors who are dedicated to strengthening Broward County’s workforce.

As President of the South Florida Manufacturers Association (SFMA), Rocco provides overall leadership and direction for the organization while working closely with manufacturers and employers to advance workforce priorities across the region. He is deeply engaged in forging strategic relationships across the manufacturing sector and the broader business community, helping align talent development with real-time employer demand. Prior to joining the BWDB, Rocco served as chairman of CSBD’s Education and Industry Consortium Committee, connecting education and industry partners to strengthen pathways into manufacturing and related careers.

Fernandez has extensive experience with ANF Group, where he has served in roles spanning property management, business development, and executive leadership. In 2024, he was named President of Development after serving as Executive Vice President. His background includes professional and medical office development and tenant coordination, as well as leadership in land acquisition, entitlements, financing, leasing, and property management. He has helped develop more than one million square feet of commercial space throughout South Florida.

“Matthew and Nelson each bring a valuable perspective to the Broward Workforce Development Board,” said Carol Hylton, President/CEO of CareerSource Broward. “Matthew’s manufacturing leadership and proven partnership-building will help expand talent pipelines, and Nelson’s deep development experience and community focus will strengthen our efforts to connect employers with skilled talent and expand access to training and career opportunities across Broward County.”

“Manufacturing is strongest when talent development keeps pace with industry needs,” said Rocco. “I’m excited to join the Broward Workforce Development Board and build on the partnerships that connect education and employers.”

“Workforce development is about creating opportunity that lasts for individuals, families, and employers,” said Fernandez. “I look forward to serving on the Broward Workforce Development Board and supporting the strategies that expand access to training and connect people to sustainable careers.”
