UKG Unveils Agentic-powered UKG Pro Pay with Workforce AI at Payroll Congress 2026

UKG, a leading global AI platform unifying HR, pay, and workforce management, today introduced UKG® Pro Pay with Workforce AI, delivering high impact, AI-powered payroll capabilities designed to enable organizations detect, analyze, and resolve potential issues in real time — helping to ensure employees, especially those in frontline and hourly roles, are paid accurately and on time. Pro Pay with Workforce AI utilizes agentic, assistive, and generative AI, along with advanced automation, to elevate pay from a back-office process to a system of action with human oversight to help identify and correct errors, orchestrate workflows, and guide issue resolution across the payroll lifecycle.

“Pay day is the most important recurring moment for the frontline workforce. Not only is it often the single largest line item expense for an organization, but it is the foundation that the entire frontline employee experience is built upon. When pay is wrong, it hurts the business on multiple fronts,” said Gretchen Alarcon, General Manager and Senior Vice President of Enterprise HCM solutions at UKG. “With our extensive AI domain expertise, Pro Pay with Workforce AI is built to help pay teams transform from reactive to real-time, moving back office to a strategic partner. This is the latest example of how UKG powers the frontline workforce that keeps the global economy running.”

Pro Pay with Workforce AI delivers an elevated experience that combines agentic, assistive, and generative AI, building tools that solve common and complex pay pain points, including:

  • Payroll Auditing AI, which enables payroll teams to efficiently audit their payrolls using natural language to improve payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Payroll Analyst Agent, which analyzes payroll variances that have been identified by Payroll Auditing AI and surfaces the root causes to give organizations the ability to significantly reduce manual analysis and reliance on reports.
  • Payroll Anomaly Detection AI, which is designed to identify deviations from typical patterns by comparing the current payroll to up to five years' worth of historical payroll data, delivering functionality to prevent errors and ensure employees are paid accurately.
  • Payroll Checks AI, which helps streamline the corrections to employees' pay slips through a natural, conversational interface when payroll issues are detected for one or more employees.
  • Payroll Administration Experience AI, a unified AI workspace designed to support payroll administrators across the full payroll processing lifecycle.
  • AI Assisted Payroll Processing, which schedules and executes the payroll processing cycle with built-in review and approval touchpoints for payroll administrators, and can significantly reduce the time needed to process payroll when coupled with Payroll Auditing AI, Payroll Analyst Agent, and Payroll Anomaly Detection AI.

Recent research from UKG and KPMG shows that organizations lose 2-4% of total labor spend to "payroll leakage," which refers to consistent, unintended financial losses. The research shows that even 1% of wasteful payroll spending can amount to $15 million in losses for a large enterprise. Payroll is inherently complex — especially for frontline-heavy shift work — combining varying hours, pay rates, job codes, labor rules, tax withholdings, and benefits deductions that must be calculated accurately for every individual employee, every pay cycle. Pro Pay with Workforce AI replaces fragmented, manual processes with real-time orchestration, simplifying this complexity and supporting more accurate and consistent payroll operations at scale.
