Important Update Regarding Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Eligibility for the 2026/27 School Year
Broward County Public Schools Food (BCPS) Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) is pleased to announce participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2026/27 school year. CEP is a federal program that allows schools in qualifying low-income areas to offer free breakfast and lunch to all enrolled students without requiring individual meal applications.
A total of 141 schools in the District will operate under CEP for the upcoming school year. The remaining 80 schools will continue to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price lunch through the Meal Benefits Application process. All schools in BCPS will continue to offer free breakfast to all students.
For students who attend schools that determine eligibility through applications, students will receive meals based on their prior year status for the first 30 days of school or until a new eligibility status is determined – whichever comes first. Effective September 22, 2026, students whose families have not completed a Meal Benefits Application, will be required to pay for lunch until an application is submitted, processed and eligibility is determined.
How to Apply
- Students attending one of the 80 schools that determine lunch eligibility through applications:
Families must complete a Meal Benefits Application online at www.myschoolapps.com to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price lunch. Citizenship status is not collected on this application.
- Students attending one of the 141 CEP schools:
No application is required; however, families are encouraged to complete an Income Survey Form www.myschoolapps.com to help determine eligibility for additional districtwide benefits.
Automatic eligibility:
Students who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or who are identified as participating in Head Start, or who are classified as foster, homeless or migrant, are automatically eligible for free meals.
Meal Prices
- Breakfast: Free for all BCPS Students
- Reduced-Price Lunch: $0.40
- Elementary Lunch: $4.00
- Middle School Lunch: $4.35
- High School Lunch: $4.50
Parents and guardians are encouraged to create a My School Bucks account for each student at www.myschoolbucks.com. This platform allows families to add funds for meals and à la carte purchases and to monitor student meal account activity.
