Florida Department of Education Releases 2025/26 State Assessment Results

BCPS Students Make Impressive Academic Gains and Outperform State in Most Tested Areas

The Florida Department of Education has released results for the Spring 2026 statewide assessments, including the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, Science assessments for grades 5 and 8, and End-of-Course (EOC) exam results for Biology, Civics, U.S. History, Algebra and Geometry.

The results demonstrate that Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students improved or maintained performance across nearly all tested subject areas in 2025/26 compared to 2024/25. Among the most notable achievements, ELA performance increased at every grade level tested, with each grade posting gains of three or more percentage points compared to the prior year. In addition, BCPS tied or outperformed the state and Florida’s four other large districts (Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, Orange and Palm Beach counties) in most tested subjects.

"These results highlight the incredible dedication of our teachers, school leaders, staff and families, and the hard work and perseverance of our students." said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. " I am proud of the sustained academic growth and achievement we are seeing across nearly every tested subject area. It is a testament to the commitment of our District, School Board, and community to provide a strong academic foundation for all students."

The FAST ELA and mathematics are administered three times a year as part of the state’s progress monitoring assessments. The Spring Assessment (PM3) is the final FAST assessment of the school year. Since 2022/23, results for BCPS show student achievement increases (for percentage of students scoring at or above grade level) ranging from 13 to 18 percentage points across all tested levels and subjects (see chart below).
