BCPS Launches Space Florida Academy at Nine High Schools Initiative Expands Student Pathways to Aerospace and STEM Careers

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), in partnership with Space Florida, is proud to offer the Space Florida Academy, an innovative initiative designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in aerospace, aviation, engineering, advanced manufacturing and other science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The Space Florida Academy is launching at nine BCPS high schools that have existing aerospace and engineering programs, including Blanche Ely High School, Boyd H. Anderson High School, Coral Glades High School, Coral Springs High School, Charles W. Flanagan High School, Miramar High School, Northeast High School, Piper High School and Plantation High School. It will provide students with access to rigorous academic coursework, industry-relevant experiences, career exploration opportunities and partnerships with higher education institutions and business leaders. The Academy is designed to equip students with the knowledge, technical skills, credentials and real-world experiences needed to thrive in Florida's rapidly growing aerospace and aviation industries. Students completing the program receive access to a job portal featuring companies offering hiring preferences to Space Florida Academy graduates.

"This partnership reflects our commitment to providing innovative educational experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world career pathways."

Florida continues to be a global leader in aerospace innovation, aviation and space exploration. The Space Florida Academy aligns classroom instruction with industry needs, helping students build a strong foundation in STEM while earning valuable credentials, participating in hands-on learning experiences and connecting with professionals in the field.

The Academy also strengthens collaboration between BCPS, Space Florida, postsecondary institutions, workforce development organizations and industry partners to ensure students graduate prepared for in-demand careers that contribute to Florida's economic growth.

The launch of the Space Florida Academy supports the District’s ongoing commitment to expanding career and technical education opportunities, strengthening STEM education and preparing every student for success after graduation.
