The first day of school for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students is Monday, August 10, 2026, and District staff is busy preparing to welcome more than 236,000 students for a successful new school year.  

Media are invited to cover back-to-school events highlighting innovative programs, student services and initiatives, along with staff working behind the scenes to prepare schools for opening day. These opportunities offer access to District leaders, teachers and staff while showcasing what’s new for students and families.

BCPS Food and Nutrition Services invites media to a special tasting event featuring new, nutritious and student-inspired menu items that will be available in school cafeterias during the 2026/27 school year.

Before students return to school, BCPS school bus operators conduct practice runs of their assigned routes to familiarize themselves with stops, identify potential traffic concerns and help ensure safe, efficient transportation on the first day of school. New this year, buses will be equipped with automated cameras to increase safety at bus stops.
